Remnants
in 2018, a 10’ flashflood swept through our narrow Santa Fe valley, washing away animals, fences, boulders and trees. My work went from the universal to the personal, understanding that the presumed control over the environment had changed to a “new norm.” These paintings reference the doorway into the intrinsic fragile energy of the natural and man-made worlds. There exists a fine balance of positive and negative forces extending through all universal concepts. A necessary equilibrium is paramount to humanity’s survival. My series of Remnants and Shift stand witness to change, the recognition of not knowing, but more importantly the need to move forward.
